Busan Climate Change Experience Center Reopens on February 28! Experiential Education Space for Practicing Carbon Neutrality
The city of Busan has announced that the 'Busan Climate Change Experience Center' located in Huam-dong, Buk-gu, has completed its remodeling and will fully reopen from February 28.
Since its opening in 2014, the facility had aged, and various experience spaces for practicing carbon neutrality have been newly established to improve it.
What will the newly remodeled Busan Climate Change Experience Center look like?
This facility, located in Huam-dong, Buk-gu, has a total floor area of 1,305.2㎡. The basement level features various energy-saving facilities such as hydrogen fuel cell generation, rainwater recycling, and geothermal energy.
The first floor is used for visitor reception and educational spaces, while the second floor is designed as an experience area where visitors can practice carbon neutrality in daily life. Finally, the rooftop features a renewable energy playground and relaxation area, providing a pleasant environment for visitors.
Operating hours are from 9:30 AM to 5:30 PM. The center is closed every Monday as well as on January 1, Lunar New Year, and Chuseok.
Individuals can visit without a reservation, but advance booking is required for groups. For inquiries or group reservations, please contact via phone (☎ 051-309-6296) or through the Buk-gu integrated booking system (www.bsbukgu.go.kr/reservation).
Experience Programs with 'Climate Guardians'
The Busan Climate Change Experience Center features the concept of 'Climate Guardians', allowing children and youth to defeat climate crisis villains and save the Earth in a fun environment. In particular, a new escape room game focused on practicing carbon neutrality has been introduced to provide an engaging learning experience.
This remodeling has shifted the focus from a traditional exhibition-centered education method to a hands-on learning and practice-centered education. Visitors can utilize renewable energy and directly experience energy-saving technologies while learning how to respond to the climate crisis in their daily lives.
A Citizen Participation-Oriented Carbon Neutrality Education Space
The city of Busan plans to support both children and adults in easily understanding and practicing climate change through the new education center's remodeling. The Mayor of Busan stated, "Through this remodeling, we hope citizens become interested in environmental protection and realize carbon neutrality in their daily lives."
We hope you will experience solutions to the climate crisis directly at the Busan Climate Change Experience Center.
