G-Star 2025-2028 venue confirmed as Busan!
Busan has been selected as the next venue for G-Star, the largest international game exhibition in Korea. This decision follows the results of the ‘mid-evaluation of G-Star host cities’ conducted by the Korea Games Industry Association.
Busan will host G-Star for four years from 2025 to 2028. The future of Busan as a center of the gaming industry is promising.

Busan, established as a ‘Global Gaming City’ with G-Star for 16 years
G-Star is the largest global game exhibition in Korea, held annually in Busan since 2009. The city has collaborated with the Busan Information Industry Promotion Agency to enhance the stability of event operations, expand gaming industry infrastructure, and increase transportation and accommodation support. As a result, Busan received high scores in various categories during this evaluation, such as local government investment, exhibition infrastructure, accommodation and transportation support, public infrastructure, and vision presentation, once again confirming its status as the host city.
Busan aims to enhance international competitiveness and grow into a global gaming city. Mayor Park Hyung-joon stated, “I will further elevate G-Star's international status over the next four years and develop Busan into a world-class gaming industry hub.” This plan will contribute to establishing Busan as a key player in the gaming industry.
G-Star 2025 to feature more abundant content
G-Star 2025 will take place from November 13 to 16 at BEXCO. The event will feature a variety of game exhibitions, e-sports competitions, new releases, conferences, and a rich program lineup. It is expected to provide a wealth of experiences for domestic and international gaming fans and industry professionals.
G-Star Hosting as a Driving Force for Busan's Economic Growth
G-Star has a significant impact on the economy of Busan, beyond being just a gaming exhibition. Since it began in Busan in 2009, the number of gaming companies in the city has increased from 24 to 133, a growth of 5.5 times. The number of employees also rose from 242 to 1,468, more than a 6-fold increase.
Additionally, annual sales have skyrocketed from 12.9 billion KRW to 178.4 billion KRW, more than 13 times. The economic ripple effect of holding G-Star amounts to 303.6 billion KRW annually, creating an employment impact of 3,065 jobs per year.
These results are not only revitalizing the local industry but also fostering innovation and development in the gaming and IT sectors. It can be said that G-Star positively influences Busan's economy and industry.
Reasons G-Star Should Continue to Be Held in Busan
Busan has established a model where the gaming industry and the city have developed together by successfully hosting G-Star for the past 16 years. Moving G-Star to another region would not only waste administrative resources but also make it difficult to efficiently utilize the operational expertise and established infrastructure built over many years. Personally, I believe that now it is a more effective choice to hold G-Star permanently in Busan.
Long-term venue stability is essential for the continuous growth of the gaming industry. Busan is recognized as a city that meets this criterion, and the city plans to further strengthen gaming industry infrastructure and solidify its position as a global gaming city through G-Star.
Keeping Busan as the host city for G-Star will positively impact not only the gaming industry but also the local economy. I hope that Busan continues to develop as a center of the gaming industry in the future.
Conclusion
With Busan confirmed as the host city for G-Star, it will become a center for the domestic and international gaming industry for the next four years. The city is committed to continuously enhancing its infrastructure and content for successful events and increasing its international competitiveness.
We all need to provide continuous interest and support to help Busan grow into a global gaming city through G-Star. These efforts are expected to greatly impact the future of Busan.
