Complete Opening of National Route 60 from Gimhae Saengnim to Sangdong
Gimhae City has announced that the last remaining section of National Route 60 from Sangdong Intersection to Daepo Intersection (2.4 km) will be opened in mid-March. As a result, the entire road section will be completely opened.
Significance of the Opening of National Route 60 from Saengnim to Sangdong
The Saengnim to Sangdong section of National Route 60, which has been promoted by Gyeongsangnam-do, is a large-scale road project with a total project cost of 216.5 billion won. This section was built as an 8.56 km, four-lane road and has been under construction for about 17 years since its groundbreaking in 2008.
With the opening of this road, it is expected that traffic congestion from National Route 58 to Provincial Route 8 toward Sangdong will be significantly alleviated.
Additionally, logistics movement from nearby factories is anticipated to improve, thereby reducing logistics costs. With improved accessibility to industrial complexes and logistics centers in the Sangdong area, the logistics efficiency for businesses is expected to increase. In September, Nakdong Bridge Connection Expected in the Maeri to Yangsan Section
In September, the Nakdong River crossing bridge is expected to be connected in the Maeri to Yangsan section of National Route 60. As a result, this section will be partially opened, greatly improving traffic accessibility in Yangsan and nearby areas.
In the future, the road network connecting Gimhae, Yangsan, and Busan is expected to be further strengthened. This is likely to have a positive impact on local development.
Gimhae City Continues to Promote Road Network Expansion
With the opening of National Route 60 from Saengnim to Sangdong, Gimhae City is focusing on expanding the connected road network. By the end of next year, plans are in place to complete the construction of the Hallym to Saengnim section and the Maeri to Yangsan section of National Route 60, as well as the Daedong to Maeri section of National Route 69.
A Gimhae City official stated, "This opening will greatly improve the traffic environment between Saengnim and Sangdong." He also added, "Once the major road network connecting Changwon, Miryang to Yangsan and Busan is completed, inter-regional movement will become smoother."
The complete opening of the entire section of National Route 60 is expected to be a stepping stone for upgrading the traffic system in the Gimhae area. If additional road networks are constructed in the future, a more efficient traffic environment is expected to be developed. These changes will also have a positive effect on local residents.
