Busan City is conducting a call for proposals for the 'Support Project for Discovering and Fostering Leading Fields in the Marine New Industry.' This project is part of a strategy to develop Busan into a global marine leading city, focusing on supporting planning and validation of marine new industry R&D.

Busan plans to select and support 6 new research and development planning projects and 2 validation pilot projects. Through this, proactive investment will be induced in various marine new industry sectors such as marine convergence industry, shipping, ports and logistics, fisheries, food, and bio, actively promoting national commercialization.

This call for proposals is expected to make a significant contribution to the development of Busan's marine industry.

Overview of the Call and Support Targets

Busan City is conducting two types of calls to develop the marine new industry as a core future sector. These are divided into research and development (R&D) planning support and business model verification support.

In the first call for proposals, the R&D planning support field, a research fund of around 40 to 50 million won will be provided for business planning. This support is for the detailed planning of new R&D projects related to the marine new industry, with a total of 6 projects set to be selected.

In the second call for proposals, the R&D business model verification support field will provide approximately 300 million won for demonstration pilot project funds. This support aims to promote the commercialization and validation of marine industry technologies, as well as to address issues, with 2 projects ultimately selected.

The submission period will be open until March 26, with final support recipients determined in early April.

Support Fields and Details

This project will recruit support tasks in the three core fields of the marine new industry.

FieldDetails
Marine Convergence IndustryMarine data service, marine energy, marine resource development, marine healing, marine leisure and tourism, marine education and culture
Shipping, Ports, and LogisticsShipping port services, smart logistics, marine finance, eco-friendly ships
Fisheries, Food, and BioBlue food, marine bio, fisheries life, smart aquaculture

Research and development planning support for the development of the marine industry requires the formation of a planning research community. This community will consist of around 10 members, with a university or research institution located in Busan selected as the lead organization. Additionally, companies and external institutions, as well as universities, can participate as associate organizations.

The business model verification support aims to develop practical models that can be applied in the field of marine new industries through an industry-academic-research consortium. This will promote substantial progress in the marine industry and achieve sustainable growth.
