IKEA GRIMSBU Assembly Review | Recommended Budget Single Bed Frame
Recently, while searching for a bed suitable for a small room, I chose the IKEA GRIMSBU bed frame and LURÖY slats. I placed a single-size latex topper on the floor, but it was extremely uncomfortable, so I eventually decided to purchase the single bed frame.
The GRIMSBU bed frame costs 50,000 won, and the slats are 30,000 won, totaling only 80,000 won. I was able to purchase it at such a reasonable price.
The delivery fee for online orders was 30,000 won, resulting in a total cost of 80,000 won. To save on delivery fees, I decided to pick up the items directly from the IKEA store in Dongbusan. The frame is 2 meters long, making it easy to transport in an SUV without any difficulties.
IKEA has two budget single bed frames, Bävenstad and Songesand. Bävenstad is characterized by its sturdy steel structure and is priced at 119,000 won. In contrast, Songesand is made of wood and is sold for 189,000 won.
IKEA vs Budget Chinese Furniture
While IKEA products are manufactured in China, there is a clear difference from cheap furniture sold on Coupang or Ali. In terms of quality and design, IKEA has unique characteristics.
The finish is neat, and products that do not have peeling paint or rust show excellent durability. Anyone who has used cheap Chinese furniture will easily notice the quality difference with IKEA products. Especially if you purchased the lowest price items on Coupang or Ali, you're likely to receive a metal frame with peeling paint or rust.
There is also a separate plastic finish at the bottom of the bed legs.
If you're considering purchasing budget furniture, IKEA is the answer.
IKEA GRIMSBU Assembly Process - Easy Difficulty
The process of opening the package and checking the parts has begun. It is important to check all parts and the instructions before assembly. To avoid confusion due to the large number of parts, it is advisable to organize them in advance. Pay attention to the shape of the corners and bolt holes during assembly. An Allen wrench is included, but a Phillips screwdriver is also necessary for assembling the slats.
Assembling the bed frame is simple. You can easily understand it by looking at the illustrations in the manual.
There are many similar parts, so it's important to assemble by looking at the exact shapes.
The frame has hexagonal holes and does not require separate nuts, as it can be securely tightened with just the provided Allen wrench.
Be careful about the orientation when installing the bed legs. The part that goes in the L-shape is where the slats will be placed later. The recessed part in the above picture corresponds to the top, and the bed legs should be properly connected at the bottom.
During the process of attaching the legs, there were a few spots where the paint was slightly chipped, but the steel frame was not exposed. This is at a level that is completely acceptable.

The IKEA slats are heavier than expected
and can fall during the securing process, so be careful.
By unfolding the slats and securing the bottom, the installation is completed. You can see that it is firmly secured when placing the mattress on the frame.
The slats are sturdy and do not sag in the middle. In contrast, cheap Chinese products often have the center frame sagging.

I am currently using a latex topper but am considering purchasing IKEA's affordable mattress as well. My experiences using the bed are as follows.
The sturdy steel structure minimizes shaking. The LURÖY slats provide excellent support in the middle area, offering sturdiness. The spacious bottom area allows for high storage utility. It can be assembled alone, but having two people makes the process easier. The satisfaction level is high for the price, making it even more cost-effective for 80,000 won.
The IKEA GRIMSBU bed frame is the optimal choice for those seeking a sturdy single bed at a low price. Despite its economical price, it meets both durability and practicality, and the experience of assembling it myself brought even greater satisfaction.
