Gyeongnam Province Increases Sacheon-Jeju Flight Schedule to Five Times a Week
Gyeongnam Province (Governor Park Wan-soo) announced that Korean Air's Sacheon-Jeju route will be increased from the current three times a week to five times a week starting March 30.
This increase is part of the effort to enhance the transportation convenience for users of Sacheon Airport and is the result of continuous discussions with the airline.
As a result, traveling to Jeju has become more convenient from Monday to Sunday.
Efforts to Activate Sacheon Airport
In a residents' survey conducted last October to improve the usage environment and functionality of Sacheon Airport, 'expanding the number of flights' received the highest support at 77%. Accordingly, Gyeongnam Province has achieved this increase through discussions with Korean Air.
The increase in the Sacheon-Jeju route is the first since Korean Air resumed the route in October 2023, reflecting the surge in demand for the Jeju route due to COVID-19. This change is expected to have a positive impact on the activation of Sacheon Airport.
How to Get to Jeju Island from Sacheon Airport
Getting to Jeju Island by air from the Jinju and Sacheon areas of Gyeongnam is simple.
Here is information on Korean Air flights. This flight operates five times a week, with flights on Monday, Wednesday, Friday, Saturday, and Sunday. Starting March 30, it will be more convenient to use.
The aircraft model is B737-900, with a total of 188 seats available. The flight from Sacheon to Jeju departs at 15:25 and arrives at 16:25, while the flight from Jeju to Sacheon departs at 13:20 and arrives at 14:25.
There are various ways to get to Sacheon Airport. If using a private vehicle, it can be accessed from major cities in Gyeongnam within 1-2 hours. For those wishing to use public transportation, airport limousines and city buses are available from Sacheon and nearby areas, making travel convenient.
Promotion of Increased Flights on the Sacheon-Gimpo Route
Gyeongnam Province is currently negotiating with airlines to increase flights and adjust the flight times on the Sacheon-Gimpo route. Currently, Jin Air operates seven times a week, with a total of 14 flights.
To expand choices for residents, discussions with low-cost airlines (LCC) and small airlines will also continue. However, due to the Ministry of Land, Infrastructure and Transport's special safety inspection plan for low-cost airlines, Jin Air's Sacheon-Gimpo route will be reduced from two flights per day to one from March 5 to 25. This may cause inconvenience to residents, but it is a measure prioritizing safety.
The flight schedule has changed.
The original schedule had flights from Gimpo to Sacheon at 09:20 and 15:50, and return flights from Sacheon to Gimpo at 10:55 and 17:25. However, the new schedule adjusts the Gimpo → Sacheon flight to 15:50 and the Sacheon → Gimpo flight to 17:25.
Gyeongnam Province explained that this is an unavoidable adjustment to enhance flight safety and emphasized that they will do their best to minimize inconvenience for users.

Gyeongnam Province will continue to promote policies such as expanding flight services, improving airport accessibility, and adjusting flight times to activate Sacheon Airport.
The head of the Gyeongnam Logistics Airport Railroad Division stated, "The decision to increase the Sacheon-Jeju route by Korean Air is a significant turning point for the activation of Sacheon Airport," emphasizing their commitment to continue pursuing new routes and increases for the convenience of residents in air transportation.
